Description

The Cave Story has been told many times by spiritually illumined teachers to their students, illustrating the way we are easily hypnotized. Every appearance, whether of good or of evil, gives us the opportunity to choose intelligently from our innate withinness and to be led by the Spirit. In this way, we stay awake and realize our inherent dominion.

The human experience has been likened to a parenthesis in the circle of Eternity. The circle symbolized a life without beginning or end. The parenthesis stands for birth and death, and within this parenthesis we live an interval of eternity. The seeker is seeking the Eternal, but he is living in the mortal sense of time and space, which includes a beginning and an ending. This mortal sense clouds his perception, and he knows not who he is or where he is going. It is as if he were in a cave, walking in darkness, not realizing that the Eternal is omnipresent.
